The Bay of Fires Art Prize Exhibition has been a wonderful success.

There is still time to come in and have a look!
The gallery is open until 30th June 10am – 4pm daily.

The winner is Paul Ryan’s Fine Young Cannibal – A Portrait of Alexander Pearce, has been well received and a popular choice.
The Alexander Pearce story in the Tasmanian history has been conveyed in an almost “acceptable” way, portraying Alexander as a refined young English gentleman!

Watch this space for the winner of the people’s choice.

And coming soon…

The first exhibition to open in Spring on Saturday 19th October
will be a display of works by the Basket Weavers of Tasmania.

15th – 17th November at Gallery Parnella

Elaine Lincolne, Julian Greer, Andrew Murphy and Gina Haywood

 “Sunnycoast Water-colourists”

Opening during the weekend of the 13th –  15th December
will be another exhibition of the Sunnycoast Water-colourists.
This is a dedicated group who have been painting together for many years,
originally under the tutelage of Max Angus.

Gallery Parnella will close for its annual winter recess
from Sunday the 30th June to Wednesday the 2ndOctober.

Gallery Parnella was delighted to welcome this year’s Bay of Fires Art Prize winner – Paul Ryan to speak to gallery visitors about his winning work and his general practise as an artist. Ryan encouraged questions from visitors and spoke openly about his lifestyle and passions.

When asked “Is there a dream (art) project you will be spending the prize money on?”
Ryan answered, “Living the life of an artist IS my dream project, and a prize like this (Bay of Fires Art Prize) enables me to keep living this way.”

Be sure to view the winning work and complete exhibition over the month of June – daily between 10am and 4pm at Gallery Parnella, 60 Cecilia St, St Helens.
